Pumpkins. Is there anything more perfect? As far as a food goes, pumpkins (and squash in general) are on of my favorites. I love pumpkin roasted on salads, pureed in smoothies and stirred into soups. Did you also know that pumpkin is a perfect powerhouse of antioxidant vitamins A and K, minerals (like zinc) and Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) for your skin? One of my favorite, and most simple, masks is created from pumpkin. Check out the recipe below and enjoy a nourishing, pumpkin face mask before the season is over.
What you'll need:
About ¼ of a cup of pumpkin puree (I make my own by roasting sliced pumpkin in the oven, then pureeing it in a blender with a bit of water)
1 tablespoon of honey (preferably local, raw and organic)
1 tablespoon of rosewater (you can substitute lavender water, glycerin or even milk/non-dairy milk)
A few drops of tea tree oil (optional, but recommended for acne prone or oily skin)

How to make it:
Just mix everything together in a small bowl and gently apply to your face is a thick layer. You may have extra mask left over. You can keep in the fridge for a day or two. Let the mask sit on your face for at least 20 minutes. I have been known to leave it on for an hour. Sit back and relax. This mask is also AMAZING for sunburns or burns in general. The beta carotene (Vitamin A) in pumpkin sucks out redness and helps heal burns. Enjoy!
