Confession: I shamelessly got the idea for this cleanser from S.W. Basics, an amazing natural and organic beauty company based out of Brooklyn, New York. If you live in the U.S., check this brand out; the products are even sold at Target! The founder, Adina Grigore, is my hero. The ingredients she uses in her products are simple, effective and perfect for sensitive skin, like mine. The packaging is all glass. She cares about sustainability and works with small farms and organic, fair-trade ingredients to make the best products for your and my skin. However, I don't live in the U.S. I don't trust most organic and natural brands here, which is why I started making my own products in the first place. Oh, and the whole point of my blog is to try out DIY recipes, so I decided to take a stab at re-creating S.W. Basics' rosewater, glycerin and tea tree oil cleanser. I was drawn to this cleanser because it only requires three ingredients, all of which can be found easily in Turkey. Here's what you'll need:
Glass bottle (I re-used an old 2 oz spray bottle; you can use whatever size but adjust the recipe accordingly)
Rosewater
Vegetable Glycerin
Tea Tree Oil
How to make it:
Simply fill your bottle 2/3 of the way full with rose water
Add 1 teaspoon of glycerin and 5 - 7 drops of tea tree oil
Fill the rest of the way with rosewater
Add more tea tree oil, according to your taste
Shake and use
How to use:
This doesn't foam like a regular cleanser and it's NOT meant to be a makeup remover. Be sure to do that first. My favorite method is the oil method. After all your makeup is off, take a cotton round (preferably a reusable one) and swipe all over your face, then rise with warm water. Pat dry and continue with the rest of your skin care regime.
Enjoy!
